Summer Gong Bath with Ricarda O'Conner

Kick off your Summer season with a deeply renewing bath of sound.  Healer, teacher, and musician Ricarda O'Conner will guide you on a journey to reset and recalibrate your nervous system.  A gong bath meditation restores the harmonic field of the body. The sound waves emanating from the gongs come in through your ears, but also move through your body, gently guiding you into deep relaxation. The gongs rebalance the body, mind and spirit, raising your vibration and returning you to your essential resonance. For this event you will lie down on a yoga mat, close your eyes, and simply let the sound wash over you. Please bring a yoga mat and a pillow and/or a blanket and eye covering if you wish. The more comfortable your body can be, the more beneficial the experience. For more about Ricarda, please see www.ricardaoconner.com.

Renew & Restore: A Mother's Practice

Whether you've had a child three months ago or three years ago or thirteen years ago, you are experiencing what every mother knows to be the "postpartum" life.  Before bearing children.  After bearing children.  These lives may be similar in some ways, but they are undeniably different in others. We experience these changes in our bodies, our minds, our interests, and our hearts.    This Mother's Practice - the second in what I hope becomes part of a regular schedule - is intended to help students heal, restore, and energize aspects of the body-heart-mind that have shifted since childbirth.  This practice will involve discussion and connection with other mothers, a strong restorative and self-care component, and physical movement that will help to heal and strengthen core and pelvic floor muscle as well as open and release the next and shoulders.   Very minimal yoga experience necessary. Reserve your spot here !

YIN + SOUND = YOGA

All life is relationship, and in this experience we will explore the dynamics between the practice of Yin Yoga and the therapeutic Sound Bath. By uniting our emotional, spiritual and physical bodies in a meditative way, these two modalities will bring you back to who you truly are. The practice of Yin Yoga is slow and deep. Based on the principles of stillness, it encourages students to listen to their body's individual needs. A yin practice guides students past the muscle and into the connective tissue, joints and areas of tension that are being held in deep layers of the body. Students will learn an intuitive approach to working with the body that cultivates listening, facilitates the release of long-held tensions and offers genuine relaxation. Simple postures on the floor will be practiced to relax your muscles in order to stimulate the ligaments, joints and layers of fascia. No yoga experience necessary!! Sounds have been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Whether through the use of mantras, medicine melodies or the use of interval and frequency, these various techniques all have the same intention: to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance. Man in essence is a vibration. The molecule sings, the heart of the atom is tone, and man has a sound body which comes in and out of tune. Enabling the soul to remember its true divine self, its spirit self, we can re-merge with all that is. Finding connection and balance with all that is, we find ourselves in wholeness, homeostasis or perfect health.   $35   Pre-Registration    $40 Same Day    Write info@catskillsyoga to reserve your space.

The winter season provides us with natural support and encouragement to slow down, take pause, and look inward; at the same time, deep winter’s shorter days and colder temperatures can be challenging for our bodies and spirits. Come for a restorative and comforting day of connecting with yourself and other women in our beautiful, light-filled studio in the mountains. Together, surrounded by water and woods, we’ll work with (not against) the quiet, soft, and introspective space that winter gives us. Through asana, prayer, conversation, meditation and song, we’ll allow ourselves to be held by winter’s softness and emerge feeling rested and refilled. Delicious snacks will be provided!  This is a perfect event to come alone or with a sister, friend, mother or daughter.
